Coop

Coop on his first night at home!

So meet the newest Rogers. His name is Cooper, or "Coop", and we got him about 4 months ago. He is a product of the Memphis Animal Shelter, found in an abandoned shed, and is some mix possibly of a beagle, German shepherd, and maybe some pit bull (there has yet to be a DNA test performed). Obviously, he was quite malnourished and we found out two days after we brought him home that he was sick, possibly a virus brought on by neutering him while he was so skinny. He also came down with pneumonia and we were not sure he was going to live. But after a few days at the vet, he rebounded and eventually got over the pneumonia. We thought he was just a calm puppy, but no, he was just sick. And now, after a month at the Rogers' home, this is what he looks like, happy and healthy. Perhaps too healthy. At the lake a week or so after his adoption.....

And just last week....

Berry Season

The other morning I was inspired by sweet Jillian to make some delicious muffins. One of the many things I miss about Oxford is Bottle Tree Bakery, and these bad boys were made using their recipe. I shared these with our neighbors and I think they liked them too!
I wish there was some way to share this deliciousness over the web, but pics are all I can provide. Cheers!

A nook

Our entryway has a great phone nook with a little shelf. I love this feature in old homes. While the search for an vintage phone to place here is underway, I went ahead and gave it a little sprucing up.
Each item is a gift from someone in my family. The books are classic novels that Penguin has released with beautiful vintage looking covers. The birds are handmade originals from Wolfe Studio in Jackson, MS. I'm hoping to find a cool guest book to put in the shelf for all our visitors!

A little sleep...

A little slumber, a little folding of the hands...

And your yard is a hot mess. The previous owners had this house as a "second home," so needless to say, the yard has been neglected. Fortunately I married a fellow passionate about landscaping. A few weeks ago, he got busy.

Of course, things around here have to get worse before they get better. Here are the results of the massacre...

Several holly trees (yes, trees, not bushes) and other various overgrown shrubs make for quite a stack!
We've been busy making our house a home, so more to come soon!

Dedicated

Last weekend, Scott (the bro) and Michelle's firstborn was dedicated to the Lord. It was a sweet time for family and friends to get together to celebrate the next generation in the Schuchard Clan, sweet Ellie. She has grown and changed so much in the past 2ish months! It is amazing. Here are a few pics

Doesn't Ellie look regal?

hitched

Last weekend, the hubs and I ventured down to our old stomping grounds for Dan and Elizabeth's nuptials. It was a good time had by all, and I don't think I've seen many couples so happy to get married as they were. Here are a few pics of the weekend...

Yours truly with Mr. and Mrs. DTI

Emily O'Dell captured the evening as the official photog, here's a picture to prove she was really there!

Another highlight of the trip was hanging out with our dear friends Emily and Eric Remington. The problem is... we always have so much fun that we forget to take pictures. While shopping at the Old House Depot for cool old stuff, Emily and I met Johnny Bertram. She being significantly cooler than I already had both of his albums, but I went ahead and purchased the LP. I've been enjoying the folksy Idaho-meets-Mississippi sounds all week!
Fancy architectural piece I want from Old House Depot- maybe it'll still be there next go 'round?

Happy Hearts

For Valentine's Day, Ty and I had a few friends over for some delicious treats! I enjoy cooking, but I love making sweets more than anything else. Take a look at the spread...

A secret first glance at our dining room!

Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Icing

Chocolate covered strawberries.... Yum!

In other news, we went to a class at the gym called "Extreme Fitness" and boy was it extreme. Super huge, former Marine, Anthony created the perfect potion for a challenge that makes you want to cry. Neither of us could move in any direction without aching for two days. Now we're ready for round two next Saturday!

Face Lift

I updated the "decor" of our blog with hopes of posting more frequently... We'll see how it goes!

In other news, it's been snowing a lot here lately. So much so that we stopped taking a pic of the house every time it snows! Here's our cute little abode with a light dusting....

the land of cotton

Happy New Year and Hotty Toddy from Jerry World! That's right, the mr. and I are at the cotton bowl for a second go round. This year is a repeat of the 2004 matchup against oklahoma state. But there are two key differences: 1) jevan instead of eli 2) the brand spanking new cowboy stadium instead of the old faithful cotton bowl. This stadium is AAmazing. You can't turn a corner without seeing a flat screen and being offered an ice cold margarita. Anyway, we're excited for kickoff. Are you ready?
